"We design products to give our clients enormous pleasure. Each piece must be a delight to the imagination, a sensual pleasure to sit on, and an engaging character to live with - for a very long time."
Mary Little and Peter Wheeler formed their design studio, bius, in London in 1997, quickly establishing a reputation for the exuberant, imaginative furniture commissions they executed for individual collectors and arts organization, that re-define the very concept of seating. Ironically, while their designs were being published in major European design magazines and collected by museums there, their most exciting and challenging commissions were all from clients in the USA.

So they moved to San Francisco in 2001, where they began teaching at California College of the Arts. They have continued teaching design in the USA, sharing their love of "soft", sculptural and ergo dynamic forms, of experimentation with materials, and their expertise in new fabrication processes.

Settling on the East Coast in 2005, Mary and Peter re-established their studio near New Haven, Connecticut, where they continue to design commissioned pieces and produce their own line of bius boutique ottomans. Bius also works with architects and designers who have their own ideas or sketches for exceptional modern furniture. The studio is a unique, skilled resource for design development and fabrication of superbly comfortable and beautifully made custom furniture.

Furniture buis has designed and fabricated can be found in private collections in Europe and North America, as well as the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Vitra Design Museum, Basel; Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris; and Museo de las Arts Decorativas, Barcelona.
